Tinnitus IS ringing in the ears. It’s not a condition, it’s a symptom.
It can be caused by all sorts of things, from hearing damage to infection to blocked Eustachian tubes, or simply ear wax. Sometimes it’s difficult to find any cause at all.
This could mean factory jobs, mills that have high speed equipment. I worked in one that had grinders running at a 120 decibels. The sudden shock of artillery going off. anything with high decibels.
Pressure, inflammation or degeneration on/of the acoustic nerve.
Certain medications like too much aspirin.
Prolonged and repeated exposure to high volume noises.
AS previously stated, tinnitus is the descriptive term for ringing in the ears, it is not a cause of ringing in the ears.
meniers can, it also causes dizzzyness, and nausea associated with this, tinnitus is a symptom of meniers, my mother had this, she had surgery, and is now deaf in one ear.
A bash around the ears with a book …like what happened to me at school years ago, good job it turned out to be temporary.
So a blow to the head, attending concerts, earwax .
See a doctor and go over your history for incidents that may shed light on the cause and treatment.
Sometimes an opposing sound may diminish the sounds in your ears, this works by cancelling out the original sound waves…similar waves wipe each other out.
