I’ve been getting occasional tinnitus, but I haven’t been to rock concerts, night clubs and don’t work in a noisy work environment.

I think it is compression damage within your ear thus things such as music through headphones, continuous background noise/decibel level, that type of thing could also cause it.

That is a myth: Loud noises do NOT cause tinnitus!
The high tone tinnitus is caused by an emotional cramp in the lung. To release it visualise that both lungs are full of brilliant white energy and fill them with the feeling, enthusiasm.
The much rarer low tone tinnitus concerns the large intestine but I don’t think that this concerns you.

Some medications can cause it. Ask your doctor if you are on any prescription medications or are taking anything regularly over the counter.
