Here are some of the causes of deafness and tinnitus:
1. conductive hearing loss [external ear infection,
cerumen (earwax) impaction or middle ear effusion]
2. sensorineural hearing loss [excessive or loud noise, presbycusis (age-associated hearing loss), Ménière’s disease, acoustic neuroma, mercury or lead poisoning and ototoxic medications)
3. neurologic disorders (multiple sclerosis, head injury)
4. metabolic disorders (thyroid disorder, hyperlipidemia, vitamin B12 deficiency)
5. psychogenic disorders (depression, anxiety)
6. fibromyalgia
7. hypertonia (Muscle Tension)
8. thoracic outlet syndrome
9. lyme disease
10. hypnogogia
11. sleep paralysis
Two of the biggest surprises fall under the ototoxic medications. Ototoxic basically means poisonous to the ear, and caffeine and nicotine both affect the small vessels near the ear adversely. I am talking about excessive caffeine or daily ciggarette smoke (can be secondhand smoke).
Your best bet is to ask an audiologist.
Tinnitus can be caused by a number of things including being exposed to loud music. I think I got mine from stress.
AN INJURY TO THE HEAD CAN CAUSE THE RINGING IN THE EARS, DEAFNESS IS FROM DIFFERENT THINGS.
From enviroment noise to a disease.LOTS of reasons.
