I have tinnitus in the center of my head. I have been researching a lot and have heard that some people can actually rid themselves of tinnitus. I am curious if anyone here has done it or knows anyone that has. Would love to hear your story. Thanx!

I used to suffer mild tinnitus in my left ear, it was loud but short in duration. Recently it is lasting a lot longer, & keeps me awake at night, but its not as loud as before. I’m due to see my doctor in April for another hearing test etc (I’ve suffered vertigo and lost some hearing in it already) but is there anything I can do to stop it!! (apart from put the radio on to drown out the noise).

I’ve had tonal tinnitus for 18 years. Recently after the flu I now have pulsating tinnitus (humming).
Can anyone offer suggestions for alternative medicine treatments that work?
Neither of the answers below addressed the question. One was a cut/paste definition from a website the other…not an answer at all. Lame.

The diagnosis of auto immune inner ear disease was arrived at after no other explanation for loud tinnitus(ringing in the ear) accompanied with a loud roar and slight pressure in the ear. Similar to the feeling while in an airplane. No congestion accompanies this pressure and ENT doctor says there is no bulging of the eardrum so it’s clear. Prescribed prednisone but I refuse to take it and would like to explore any optional remedies. Comes and goes, can’t pin point anything making it come or go.

hey!
im trying to figure out if i have tinnitus
ive had a ringing sound in one of my ears for a few days
i cant really hear it during the day, but i can in quiet rooms/when i try to sleep
i find that if i pull the back of my ear forward, so that it covers the ear hole, i cant hear the ringing sound
does that happen for other people with tinnitus?

I was hospitalized several times and previously diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder then with a schizoid personality disorder with a mood disorder NOS. my previous psychiatrist prescribed me seroquel, he never told me specifically what the seroquel was for though. im not sure how crazy he thought i was. i dont hear voices but i have short episodes of paranoia or suspicion when i feel stressed or anxious in situations and mood swings. maybe thats why i got the schizoaffective diagnosis. i dont think my way of interacting helps though with the diagnosis (i don’t make eye contact and im really flat/expressionless, they notice it right away and always ask if i’m scared/paranoid or nervous, which i am).
schizophrenia happens to run in my family though(a few of my relatives have it). I have recently been hearing ringing in my ears off and on and i notice another lower sound that seems like it could be a whispering voice like on a radio. there are no specific words i can make out though. i thought there was a radio playing but when i walked around or covered my ears it seemed to come from my ears and the tone doesn’t change no matter where i go. It comes and goes and i can mostly hear it when i’m in a quiet room. i sort of wish it would become louder sometime and start telling me things, so that it would confirm that it’s a "real" voice. im not sure if it’s tinnitus, or some side effect from the medication, or a mild symptom of psychosis. my new psychiatrist thinks it’s a symptom of psychosis, but i’ve been taking seroquel since before i started having ringing/whispering in my ears.
