I have had tinnitus now for about 5 years in both ears and the sound is the same all the time it does go higher when I get stressed, but its difficult to get to sleep.

I have bad tinnitus and I recently discovered Carbatoral as well as Tegretol can cause it. I’ve been taking one or the other (they’re basically the same) for 16 yrs. I v’e asked my neurologist to give me a replacement a few times in the past.( At that time I was weary of the glaucoma it can cause.) Each time the doctors told me I could simply stop taking it since I hadn’t had a seizure since age 18. This I was told at 24,36 and 41. I’m 41 now. Actually I was actually told I could stop taking Dilantin with no replacement med at 15. I did and I had a siezure at 18. So I started back with Dilantin till 24 when i changed to Tegretol due Dilantin’s side effects. SO, I’ve been fearful to stop again in spite of the doctors advice since I relapsed the first time I stopped taking anti siezure medication. But now I am faced with tinnitus which is said to have no known cure. The best known treatment is to stop the cause and that for the most part will stop it from getting worst. The damage that done is thought to be irreversible. If I convince a neurologist to put me on another anti seizure med it’s side effects will be new concerns. I repeat, the last doctor I talked to advised me to just stop since it had been 21 yrs since my last siezure.

What causes tinnitus?

I am really wondering how tinnitus is caused. I have never been in loud noised areas or any other thing I can think about should cause my tinnitus. Can a doctor discover the cause of my tinnitus?

03102011-CP – Cerebral Palsy Day.?

Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy

The symptoms of Cerebral Palsy depend upon the location and degree of damage to the brain. In mild instances, only a slight awkwardness might be evidenced. In severe cases, children may be unable to use their limbs, completely dependent on caregivers, or profoundly mentally retarded. There are several general categories of CP, which include include spastic, athetoid, ataxic, and mixed varieties.

70-80% of CP cases are considered spastic. In spastic cerebral palsy, the patients muscles are permantently contracted. Patients with leg spasticity often develop "scissors-gait"—in which their knees bend inward and nearly touch while walking.
10-20% of CP cases are athetoid. Unlike patients with spastic CP, affected muscles of patients with athetoid CP fail to contract normally, often resulting in uncontrollable drooling.
5-10% of CP patients have ataxic CP. Primarily, ataxics have poor balance and depth perception.
A small percentage of patients with CP will display a combination of spastic, athetoid, and ataxic symptoms. This is known as mixed CP.

Most patients with CP have motor impairment in their legs, but many also have impaired arm movement. To indicate which limbs are affected most, the terms diplegia, paraplegia, quadriplegia, and hemiplegia are used.

In paraplegia, the legs but not the arms are affected.
In hemiplegia the limbs on one side of the body are affected.
In diplegia, both legs are affected as are both arms, but to a lesser degree than the legs.
In quadriplegia, all four limbs are affected equally.

I’ve been having some odd symptoms in my left ear. Initially diagnosed as Eustachian Tube Dysfunction, I trust there’s some other interesting stuff going on. A hearing test came back with glowing results however I do have reduced hearing on my left ear. Some days I have very short high pitched sounds which I know is tinnitus but these are not a major concern as they happen once or twice a day and for less than a second or two.But some other days it’s low volume white noise (or hissing) all day long that leaves me very stressful and so makes the symptoms worse if I don’t distract myself from the noise.I’ve been told to cut down on caffeine and dairy and the other things on the no go list I don’t drink or eat. I am replacing yoghurt as much as possible with Alpro and I now only have one coffee once a week, BUT I love Jasmine Pearl green tea which I love to drink every day and green tea is supposed to be good for you.But it has caffeine. Will I need to cut this out? I have stopped junk food and started exercising and I have lost 2kg and I am feeling a lot better although it has only been a week. Any tips would be useful.

Tinnitus at age 15? What to do?

i have had tinnitus since last december when i was 14, and it was during my final testings which caused me some stress. Then at night i started hearing a ringing in my ears that bothered me for 3 days so i decided to do some research and found out it was called "tinnitus" and have heard other various side affects aswell. some nights it would be strong(rarely) most of the time its barely noticable, it still keeps me worried, am i going to lose my hearing? i think i am a bit too young to lose my hearing. i don’t listen to music on max, and last time i went to the hospital( in late december, around the same time as i got this) she said my ears were clean and nothing is wrong with it..

Do i leave it or should i do something about it?
