I am 20 years old and physically active and the lot. All the studies I hear about tinnitus are for older people, and/or people suffering from hearing loss. There are also studies that suggest loud noises and music can cause this, and that isn’t my problem either. Could it be something with EarNoseThroat?
P.S. I have already been to an ear nose throat specialist. There are no ready treatments for younger peope like me

Hello. Yes, I have ringing in my ears or tinnitus. I am not a medical doctor or anything related to the health fields. I have a desktop computer that has several small fans running at all times inside the computer tower. The fans are on at all times keeping the computer cool. I wouldn’t say they are very loud in my opinion, just a low decibel sound. The computer tower is about 3 feet from my head resting on the floor. For the best way to explain, it would be like a low or low power vacuum cleaner running in the next room with my door open to the next room. I have seen the common decibel chart used for hearing called the "Decibel (Loudness) Comparison Chart". There are a lot of these charts out there to look at. I couldn’t guess the decibel range because I don’t know exactly where to assume the sound level would be without proper equipment. I would be shooting in the dark. It is just strange that the ear that is the loudest ringing is the ear facing my computer tower. Also, I am many hours a day on my computer as well.

I am not asking you to diagnose me or provide a clinical evaluation as a health care professional, I am just asking if ear ringing in your opinion can be caused under my circumstances.

Thank you!

Remedy for tinnitus – How to be found?

I’m 21 years old and I never listen to any loud music or any other loud noises. In fact I’m really careful because I’m studying to become an audiologist. I don’t even own an ipod.
I don’t have any hearing loss. This ringing started after an illness.
is it normal? Will it ever go away?

Let me start of by saying I’m 19 years old. I’ve been in a band for about 3 years and I’ve exposed me ears to extremely loud noise without plugs or anything to protect them and I believe I developed Tinnitus about 2 years ago. I had a slight ringing sound with a bit of buzzing but it was always tolerable, usually i would just put some music on and forget about it. Recently it’s been getting worse so I started wearing ear plugs and it seemed to be keeping things the way they were. I have the ringing in both ears. A few days ago I was playing the music without the ear plugs and the ringing seemed to get worse. Though the last few months I’ve been getting dizzy spells (vertigo if you will) and i didn’t think much of it. I started feeling nauseous to the point where I would want to vomit but I haven’t yet. I feel off balance throughout the day. My ears also feel full as if I couldn’t pop them but I really have no problem with that. The ringing seems to intensify sometimes and I also pick up a lot of sharp sounds in my ears that wouldn’t have bothered me before. After doing some research I came across meniere’s disease which pretty much backs up all of my symptoms. The only discouraging part is that I’m so young and this usually effects adults in their 30’s and up. Im not ruling this out a single bit but I wanted to know if anybody out there is suffering from the same symptoms or even has meniere’s disease and maybe tell me hoe to keep the ringing to a tolerable level. I have a hard time sleeping, thats when the ringing seems to be at it’s worst. I cut Sodium out of my diet as of yesterday and I’m waiting to see if it shows any positive results. The earliest I can get in to see my doctor is March 3rd (a little over 2 weeks from today) and I’m hoping i can deal with it until then. I’ve read that they do have surgeries to help with this and I would very much so consider it due to my young age. I’m hoping things will resolve on it’s own but only time can tell. Does anybody have any recommendations for me? Medications or just helpful information I couldn’t find on a website? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Botox as a cure for tinnitus?

I’ve heard on tv that botox can stop migraine headaches, that are located in the forehead, by deadening the nerves. Just out of curiosity, do you think tinnitus might be stopped, or at least alleviated, by injecting botox into the head around the ears?

Does anybody have or know of any cures or advice for dealing with the pain and discomfort caused by having Tinitus?

I’m 22, it has been constant for 6 years now as a result of Meniere’s disease. It is unbearably loud 90% of the time.

It also caused deafness in my right ear, so white noise doesn’t work anymore. I’ve tried pretty much every non-surgical tinnius treatment. what can I do?
