Alright i have tinnitus right? But all the time when my tinnitus is kicking in……I can hear air changes like when someone opens a door. It’s like a high pitched tone….then gets higher when someone walks past, opens something or sometimes when the temperature changes? is this normal to pick up very quiet sounds?

love the first answer – i have tinnitus too and have never thought of it as a super power thanks for that
i too pick up strange sounds and high pitch noises – the same as you describe i started noticing it as a child
find it annoying sometimes but its always there and nothing can be done about it
yes, you are picking up changes in air pressure. ears are incredibly sensitive, and tinnitus is a condition that happens when your brain doesn’t filter out stuff that it might otherwise consider unimportant, and brings it to your attention. you are highly aware of your sonic environment. it may be annoying sometimes, but it is also a blessing. it’s like your own superpower.
Have the same problem Have had tinnitus for many years now 24 hours a day. Probably caused by being near to jet engines for 12 years in RAF. Hey ho, grin and bear it.
I have spent ages ‘listening’ to my tinnitus since reading your post. I don’t pick up the quiet sounds you do. Sounds an interesting added feature. I will persevere.
