I’m confused about tinnitus…?
I suspect that I have tinnitus. I have ringing in my ears very frequently and i realise that i’ve been listening to music at increasing vlumes since last year. when i play my instrument, my ears hurt and feel jarred at the high pitches.
I want to know if the symptoms & effects of tinnitus and whether it can be cured. but when i look at the existing questions here on yahoo answers, the answers are inconsistent. Some say that tinnitus can be cured, while some say that it can vary in volume but will never go away.
I need to know a definite answer cos i’m really worried.
My friend, infectted, has also asked about this on yahoo answers.
Can someone give a good answer cos i’m really worried for myself and for my friend.
thanks.

The answer is that there is no one answer that fits everyone across the board. If there’s an underlying cause for the tinnitus, like an infection or fluid in the ear, then it can definitely be cured. But there’s other reasons it can happen, and many of them are incurable. I once had a patient in a nursing home who had lived with a tinnitus humm in his ears for over 70 years, which was blamed on working with airplane engines.
