How often does tinnitus become so loud it blocks out all other sounds?

I was just wondering this, someone please help me out. From what I read it seems like its a rare occasion, but I just wanted to see if anyone knew?

you mean where you cant hear anything else? or do you mean where some of your hearing is impaired.
mine has never gotten so loud that it overtook all else. but when i am very stressed , or getting ill, it can get pretty blasted loud.
