how much of this will cause tinnitus?
i’ve always wondered this but i see people listen to music through earphones everyday of their lives for like years to full volume music and are fine but i heard you could get tinnitus from loud music. so it seems like it takes a lot to get it or hearing damage so how much does it take? my friends listen to loud music for hours. some people have done it everyday for years and are fine! so confused

You can have hearing loss, and you can have tinninus. Hearing loss is less obvious until you find you can’t hear high frequencies and are missing people’s speech. Loud music definitely causes hearing loss by damaging the hair cells of the cochlea. The whole earphone generation is experiencing extensive hearing loss. Only a few of them have discovered it so far.
Tinnitus is a special kind of damage to the cochlea. Not everyone gets it from loud music. Sudden, very loud sounds are more likely to cause this type of damage.
