Tinnitus Symptoms, Causes & Treatment
Tinnitus can range from mildly annoying to so terrible that it destroys your quality of life. Many medicines can cause or increase tinnitus so a first step is to analyze all medicines your are taking. Avoid all extra loud noises like gunfire, fireworks or rock music unless wearing good ear protection or your tinnitus can easily worsen.

Aspirin is probably the most common tinnitus causing medicine.
Also, you need to see and ENT (ear, nose & throat) Dr to get your ears and hearing checked for physical causes (accosutic neuroma, etc).
If seeing the ENT Dr doesn’t help, find out if your local teaching hospital has a tinnitus clinic. They can help with masking devices that train your brain to ignore the tinnitus sounds.

I went to see a specialist because I had tinitus in my right ear only. He had my hearing tested and I could not hear certain frequency’s. He looked up my nose told me that my tubes were blocked and sent me away with a nasal spray and told me to go back in three months. That was five months ago and I am still waiting for a fresh appointment. All the nasal spray did was make my nose bleed. The said specialist has left now and I have to wait and see a fresh one.
All I can say is don’t hold your breath.
I have been living with it for twenty plus years. The ear nose and throat doctor told me to watch for hearing loss. So far, if I have any hearing loss with it, it is minimal. When I have a cold, the sounds in my ears get very loud and sometimes I hear two or three high pitched tones at once. I am not taking any particular treatment. I do have to go to sleep with the tv on to make the noise less noticeable. I wish you luck in coping with this. There are worse things. That’s the way I look at it.
