Hey Alan,
I am sorry to tell you this but research shows that there is still no cure for Tinnitus yet.
Having said that however, I come to know there are people out there who recovered from Tinnitus. It is either with surgery, hearing aid, taking vitamins, audio therapies and even the natural medication.
The following is what you can do:-
Understand what triggers your ringing noise. For example if your ear is very sensitive to loud noise, then you might have to be careful not to get too closed to it. Also, if ear phone will make your Tinnitus become worse, then you will have to use speakers instead of ear phones.
Usually it is not wise for Tinnitus patients to eat salty food, sweet junks, alcohol, caffeine, cigarettes and most importantly, be extremely careful with the tablets and medications you take.
Hope this helps.
There is no cure. You may get help from a specialist clinic dealing with tinnitus and deafness, but you have tinnitus for life.
Ask your GP to refer you to the ENT clinic at the local hospital or to a specialist deafness/tinnitus clinic near you.
Tinnitus can occur at any age. It is a misconception that tinnitus is confined only to the elderly people. It has also been found to occur in kids. Tinnitus occurs when the microscopic hair present on the auditory cells of the inner ear get damaged due to persistent stress, etc.
Role of Diet
Go low on salt consumption. Get yourself checked for Meniere`s disease. Those who suffer from Meniere`s may develop tinnitus. This disease causes accumulation of fluids in the ears. It may lead to deafness. Patients of this disease must consume less salt. Caffeine naturally constricts blood vessels and raises the pressure of the blood temporarily. This can increase the sound of tinnitus. Nicotine present in cigarettes and cigars has similar effect as caffeine.
Care
Avoid loud noise. If you are standing about two meters away from someone and you have to talk louder than usual then environmental noise is much higher than the normal. Avoid such surroundings.
If avoiding such surrounding is inevitable then use ear plugs as often as you can. These are easily available in the pharmacy store. The ear plugs available in the music stores also work well. An alternative to ear plus is use of ear defenders. These are often form-filled and completely block all type of noise. They may make you feel sweaty and hot but they will save your ears from noise pollution. Best home remedy is to give your ears a rest.
When the sound is really loud humming may help you. This simple technique can be used by people working with loud music, while using a powerful tool at work, etc. The role of humming is to stimulate the inner ears to make tiny bones of the ear shrink. This prevents the outer sounds waves to pass through.
it can range from having wax in the ear to having a full-blown ear infection. put drops in your ear or baby oil and lie down on your side with a towel pressed to your ear to let it drain.
otherwise, maybe go see a doctor?
I know that there is usually an underlying cause, so you should get it checked out; if you can get rid of the underlying cause, you should be able to get rid of the tinitus.
I used to get it really badly when I was young while flying on airplanes, but all I could do was take acetaminophen or ibuprofen. Now sometimes, it bothers me when I get sinus infections, again all I take is acetaminophen and/or ibuprofen, but if it doesn’t go away in a few days then I go see the doctor. Sorry, hope it gets better.
The herb Ginko Biloba helps some folk with tinnitus.
I believe it is the main herbal approach.
Pretty damn awful thing to have……….I believe there is some sort of modern laser treatment but Im afraid it is just something I have heard.
If you’ll excuse the pun.
Tinnitus is noise that originates within the ear rather than from the outside environment. This may affect one or both ears.
Tinnitus may affect anyone. However, it is more common with increasing age. People who are prone to hardening of the arteries are at greater risk for tinnitus than the general population. In addition, individuals who work in noisy surroundings are also at greater risk for developing tinnitus. But in fact there are many causes for tinnitus
