I have constant "ringing" in both my ears, and some problems with balance, ever since I had an inner ear infection 7 years ago.

There is no one-size-fits-all "cure for tinnitus which is a symptom of another of a long list of medical problems. There are also several types of tinnitus The fact that your tinnitus began after a course of antibiotics might also be a clue for the doctor. Do you have a hearing loss as well?

The balance issues is a suggestion that the problem is still in your ears and should probably be the starting point at the doctor’s appointment which you must have before you are injured from a fall..
Supplements might help – zinc or serotonin, for example – if the original problem is a zinc or serotonin deficiency. Just because a supplement works for one person, only tells you that they were lucky enough to find the right supplement for their problem – not yours/
Some people might tell you to stop using caffeine, alcohol or salt or quit smoking but the fact is that sometimes an abrupt cessation can cause the problem
Silly as this sounds, consider having your ears cleaned at the doctor’s office as a starting point. And while you’re there, this is where you need to begin the diagnostic process.to determine the type of tinnitus you have and the more serious problem of balance.

Make a beginning with the original infection and medications used to treat it. Include a week’s sample of you diet including beverages and snacks. A medication list is important including prescriptions taken beginning with the antibiotic, over-the counter meds (yes even aspirin and other nsaids can have tinnitus as a side effect) and supplements.
You have a medical problem and while I am a great believer in supplements, they are best chosen after a diagnosis – which you need – and not before.
It must be horrible to always have that "ringing" sound – please make your lists to help speed the diagnostic process and see a doctor.
