I dropped my healthcare coverage in August ‘07 because I couldn’t afford to pay it (self-employed) anymore. Over the past year or so I have noticed a whoosing sound in my ears – at first it was only at bed, but now it is at least 30% of the time. The sound resembles the heartbeat or pulse – and by my own diagnosis – I believe I have pulsatile tinnitus. I feel an urgency to be seen by a doctor – as at best this is probably my anemia and blood pressure acting up or at worst, could lead to an aneurysm or stroke. All of the websites insist that you be seen right away. I can still renew my insurance (up to 6 months after cancellation), without having to go through the whole 9 yard process. So I’ve been planning to do so. However, my concern is — HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO WAIT after renewing to see a doctor? If I go right away, will they say that it is pre-existing and not cover any resulting treatment? Or does each company handle this differently?
Do I need to lie to the doctor then and not say that it has been occurring for some time? And no, I’m only 38, so I don’t have AARP insurance.

After the flight from Australia to Florida, my friend suffers from a kind of ringing in his ears. It goes on now since 4 days and no betterment in sight. A pharmacist gave him some nose meds but no change. He feels very disturbed and frustrated. What could it be? Anyone has any idea or had same problem. What can be done, i suggested to see a doctor.

I have suffered for about 5 years with a severe hearing loss in my right ear. I was diagnosed with atypical Meniere’s, accepted it and moved on. I have only suffered a vertigo attack twice in my life and tinnitus is extremely rare. The hearing loss is what got me the diagnosis. Today, my dentist noticed severe popping in my jaw. I’ve always suffered from headaches and I knew I had TMJ but a mouth guard made it worse and so I moved on from that as well. The dentist quoted me about 00 for a functional orthodontic treatment. After trying to research this stuff, I see that hearing loss is a symptom of TMD/TMJ. I really don’t want to shell out the money for a headache cure, but what I want to know, is will this treatment reverse the hearing loss? Have any of you who have suffered from this hearing loss associated with TMD recovered the loss of hearing? Thanks!

i have had tinnitus for all my life, and would really like to get rid of it, as it is such a pain in the butt, it never really gets worse, but its always there, a kind of high pitched tone like the old tv’s when first switched on.
any good suggestions, maybe diet, or herbal remedy. i haven’t got the money to go to the doc, here in ireland its €70 a shot, so you can imagine how it will add up.
thanks in advance, i would give all my points to get rid of it! but i can only give ten, so i am looking forward to your answers.!
all the best
