Tinnitus Treatment Archives

About 9 months ago I had my first child. Right before time to go to my 6 week check-up, out of no where I just got this sudden feeling like I was going to faint. Since that day from the time I wake up til the time I go to sleep at night I have constant dizziness. It sometimes feels as though the floor is moving out from under me. I have a very hard time focusing in on something with my vision. I feel like I’m wearing some kind of blurry goggles or something. & if I’m trying to concentrate looking in on something the dizziness gets extremely worse. I get a numb feeling in my head and arms. I feel that my head is being pulled forwards & backwards. I get a spinning sensation in my head. My anxiety has increased majorly because I’m scared I’m going to pass out or something major is wrong with me. I have no energy and I just feel awful all the time. Headaches etc. It has taken over my life. Even just the everyday things. Im scared to stay alone. It is horrible. Over the last 9 months I have been to so many doctors and specialists. & I’ve heard so many different things. I just want to know if theres anyone else going through this & might have a treatment for all this. I listed what I’ve been diagnosed with & all the test that have been done below.. If anyone knows anything please let me know.

Diagnosis
Vertigo(#1 Answer)
Eustachian tube dysfunction
Tinnitus
Low Vitamin D
Anxiety/Depression

Test Done
2 CT Scans of Brain-Normal
CT Scan of Sinuses- ENT said that I had a deviated septum
Tubes placed in both Ears
Balance Testing/Therapy- Normal (Only went to therapy once & she dismissed me.) My balance was great.
2 Thyroid Blood Test-Normal
Hormone Testing-Normal
EKG-Normal
Heart Rythm Testing-Normal
Numerous Blood Testing-Normal (except for the Vitamin D, which I started taking 2x a day)
Eye Exam (I do wear glasses)- Normal

Medications
Anxiety- Propranonol- 10mg 2x a day

I have been prescribed meclizine, Dramamine, & even Phenagan for the dizziness. None of them helped. Just made it worse.
Raymond- I have been taking the Propranonol for about 4 or 5 months. I actually took this medication 20mg 2x a day before I got pregnant & of course I quit while I was pregnant. It worked wonders the first time & it seems as though I’m not near as jumpy & my heart is not racing near as much. Im confident its not any neurological..I just know that I have always got frequent ear infections & have been told that I have fluid behind my ears. My sinuses have always gave me trouble since I was younger. So I had surgery to get tubes put in because the ENT was confident it was related to my infections & pressure in my ears. Its been about 3 months & nothing has changed. All this dizziness & stuff started about a month after I had my daughter. My pregnancy went great. Just minor issues like developing high blood pressure. I had no anxiety issues while I was pregnant & didnt even feel anxious after delivering. The anxiety just really kicked in when I started getting dizzy & being scared of f

Anyone know about how to get on disability?

This might end up being kind of long… Got a complicated medical history lol. I’m 24 and have a lot of problems with me… starts with a Genetic disorder (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or EDS), which is pretty much where all my joints dislocate REALLY easily and my skin is elastic. Since my joints pop out, I have arthritis and chronic knee and back pain. So I’m always in pain, just the severity of the pain changes. I’ll probably make a list of the things I have at the end lol. But if I walk around a lot, the pain increases… even just walking around a store. So bad that the pain meds don’t even touch it, well that and my metabolism is extremely high. Not many meds work right with me. My back mostly hurts when I try to sit for more than a few hours. Drs. haven’t figured out why it hurts or how to make it stop hurting. Same with my leg, just that physical therapy might reduce the pain and my knee is slightly displaced and pops out easily. By easily like my fingers pop out when ever I hold anything more than 5-10 pounds… can’t even play the guitar without them popping out of joint. Well tried guitar hero and they popped out. And hell I can’t even have sex without my hip popping out of joint. Then I have tinnitus. Recently figured that one out… thought everyone heard a ringing in their ears. And I have ADHD, moderate to severe. I had a few jobs (the kind that disability say I should be able to get via my age, education, and work experience) but they were too stressful/had a few interviews for some and I couldn’t read things word for word because I kept getting distracted lol. I also have a watery eye due to a cat scratch. And then I used to have an enlarged aorta, still do, or I never had one… when I was 17-18 I was diagnosed with one but the last dr I saw said my heart is fine. So until I get another exam, it’s still iffy as to if I really do or not. I think that’s about it. I usually forget one or two things when I list them… part of the ADHD lol. But I was denied 4-5 times now, and had a hearing. Now I’m getting a lawyer (Binder and Binder) and going to write a few senators about this… Any advice? I have a form saying that I’m pretty much disabled. Got a form filled out for Welfare and my dr checked all the ones like "Does this diagnosis hinder the person from working or severely limit their capacity for self support?" And "does this limit the persons ability to care for a child?" When I talked to the rep over the phone, she said to make sure I ask the drs to write a letter saying I am disabled.

Oh yea and I’ve had a lot of people say that it sounds like I might have Fibromyalgia? Mostly due to I have other pains, mostly when I lived near the ocean/when it rains/problems sleeping most of the time. But I doubt it. Oh yea and I can’t stand straight… my ankles are really stiff for some reason.

So lets see:
1. EDS
2. Chronic knee and back pain
3. Joint dislocations
4.ADHD
5. Tinnitus
6. cat scratch
7. Possible enlarged aorta or normal aorta/healthy heart
8. Possible Fibromyalgia?
9. Stiff ankles, can’t stand without being on my tippy toes.
I do take meds for my ADHD. I’m on Adderall XR 20 mg but 40 mg works a lot better. I’m not on that anymore due to I’m not in school and getting them from my primary care doc… Going to see if they can up it to 40 mg when I go back this month. And I usually use a cane… kind of those do it yourself/stubborn kind of people so I only use it when I have to do a lot of walking/standing. Helps but it doesn’t 100% keep me pain free. More like helps reduce the pain 40% at best.
And yea I know some people that got on it purely for bi polar…. She was just lazy though!

Anxiety, how to stress down?

I’m 17, male. I have anxiety and depression, and I’m not on any medication, but undergoing therapy. I need to stress down, my anxiety evolves around my health, especially my heart, but I have found the best way to avoid disease is to live healthy, and not to be stressed. Which makes me more stressed. I’m really scared that my stress is going to give me Tinnitus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and the likes. I am planning to take action by starting to exercise, but actually getting started is a challenge.

Chiari Malformation I ?

We are pretty sure that my dad has Chiari I. About TEN years ago he had a severe vertigo spell, along with ringing in the ears, headaches, and nausea. They gave him a MRI, but found nothing abnormal. And it didn’t happen anytime after that for a very long time, so they just assumed it was an abnormal spell. This January (first time in 10 years) , he had another similar spell. And in August he had another. They gave him another MRI this time since it seems to be happening more often, and they didn’t find anything really, except that she said (in a bunch of fancy medical terms..) that basically his brain looked a bit lower on one side that on the other (this is how he explained it to me). When he got home he typed in the details of what she said (in medical terms) into google and Chiari was the first thing that popped up. It makes a lot of since now though… because he has about half of the symptoms that are related to it: Vertigo, tinnitus, numbing hands, hearing loss, vision problems…etc.

So, I am wondering if anyone on here has ever had this before?
What symptoms did you have?
What did your neurologist suggest as a treatment? (I heard some people choose to do nothing about it)

She said that it was just barely hanging low, but that this may be the problem, since they’ve done dozens of tests and this has finally showed up.

Alternative Cure to Tinnitus?

The doctors arent sure if I have Tinnitus. Im getting some tests later on in the month. My Tinnitus isnt severe, the only time I can really hear and pay attention to it is when I sleep. Are there any ways, to cure Tinnitus?! It doesnt have to be regular medicine (reg. medicine if it works) but pretty much anything. It just doesnt feel right to sit here and wait until I get tested. Thank you!

I have bad tinnitus and I recently discovered Carbatoral as well as Tegretol can cause it. I’ve been taking one or the other (they’re basically the same) for 16 yrs. I v’e asked my neurologist to give me a replacement a few times in the past.( At that time I was weary of the glaucoma it can cause.) Each time the doctors told me I could simply stop taking it since I hadn’t had a seizure since age 18. This I was told at 24,36 and 41. I’m 41 now. Actually I was actually told I could stop taking Dilantin with no replacement med at 15. I did and I had a siezure at 18. So I started back with Dilantin till 24 when i changed to Tegretol due Dilantin’s side effects. SO, I’ve been fearful to stop again in spite of the doctors advice since I relapsed the first time I stopped taking anti siezure medication. But now I am faced with tinnitus which is said to have no known cure. The best known treatment is to stop the cause and that for the most part will stop it from getting worst. The damage that done is thought to be irreversible. If I convince a neurologist to put me on another anti seizure med it’s side effects will be new concerns. I repeat, the last doctor I talked to advised me to just stop since it had been 21 yrs since my last siezure.

03102011-CP – Cerebral Palsy Day.?

Symptoms of Cerebral Palsy

The symptoms of Cerebral Palsy depend upon the location and degree of damage to the brain. In mild instances, only a slight awkwardness might be evidenced. In severe cases, children may be unable to use their limbs, completely dependent on caregivers, or profoundly mentally retarded. There are several general categories of CP, which include include spastic, athetoid, ataxic, and mixed varieties.

70-80% of CP cases are considered spastic. In spastic cerebral palsy, the patients muscles are permantently contracted. Patients with leg spasticity often develop "scissors-gait"—in which their knees bend inward and nearly touch while walking.
10-20% of CP cases are athetoid. Unlike patients with spastic CP, affected muscles of patients with athetoid CP fail to contract normally, often resulting in uncontrollable drooling.
5-10% of CP patients have ataxic CP. Primarily, ataxics have poor balance and depth perception.
A small percentage of patients with CP will display a combination of spastic, athetoid, and ataxic symptoms. This is known as mixed CP.

Most patients with CP have motor impairment in their legs, but many also have impaired arm movement. To indicate which limbs are affected most, the terms diplegia, paraplegia, quadriplegia, and hemiplegia are used.

In paraplegia, the legs but not the arms are affected.
In hemiplegia the limbs on one side of the body are affected.
In diplegia, both legs are affected as are both arms, but to a lesser degree than the legs.
In quadriplegia, all four limbs are affected equally.
