I’m 16 and have had moderate tinnitus for over 7 months now. The night before it started I had been listening to music a little louder than usual, but when I got a hearing test done to see if the ringing was from hearing loss, I testing completely fine…no hearing loss at all. Soon after the ringing started, I became sensitive to sharp or loud noises (like silverware clattering, loud talking, or even the crinkling of a plastic bag) I "hear" (more like feel) a pounding sensation in my head every time I hear something like that, and the more the sound continues, the louder the pounding gets. About a month later, my hands and head started trembling continuously and I get dizzy when I stand up. I’ve noticed a lot of hair falling out for months (not in clumps or anything…but still a lot) I’ve also not been able to sleep well for months. Whenever I wake up, I feel like I haven’t rested at all. I am wondering if this might be due to a vitamin deficiency. I home school and haven’t really been outside in months on end. I’ve had a D deficiency for a while now and I know it can cause a bunch of funky symptoms. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m deficient in a lot of things. I haven’t really had a balanced diet since last spring and I’m rather thin. Is it a deficiency? Or what?…Could this all even just be anxiety?

I am going to list some symptoms and tell me what you think, I’m going to see my doctor tomorrow, but tell me what you think anyways.
Certain symptoms:
-Continuous tinnitus, dominant in left ear but is present in right, appeared June 17th 09 has lasted for nearly 3 weeks now.
-Very light tinnitus, easily covered, light humming only
-Random periods of excessive yawning, tired easily, excessive sleep(10+ hours every night)
-Ears can apparently ‘pop’ without end, i.e. ascending/descending in a plane, although somewhat quieter; the ‘popping’ sensation is felt differently different in the left ear from the right.
-At time will experience pain in the inner ear, usually the left ear, but sometimes in the right.
-The intensity of the humming in the right ear sometimes rises to become more prevalent than that of the left ear.
-Shifting movement is sometimes heard/felt in the right ear.
-If external noise is greatly reduced, heartbeat becomes apparent.
-Ticking noises, such as clocks, seems to worsen it as long as the ticking is present. (Pulsatile?)
Uncertain symptoms:
-Seems to fluctuate in intensity, sometimes quieter/louder even without changes in environment.
-Left eyelid will at times create a strange ‘wet’ smacking noise when blinking.
-Strange feelings sometimes felt in skull; phantom? sensation of being hit in the middle of forehead day after noticing tinnitus partly asleep, may have been from forgotten dream; strange pulsing felt on top of the temple.
-Sinus infection may be present, somewhat unusual amount of nasal mucus in the nostrils, seems to be heavier on the left.
-Continuous tinnitus may have become quieter over the past weeks since it was first noticed.
-Some pain in the mouth, predominantly on the left side, upper and lower, seems to be between teeth in the gums.
-Remaining hearing may have become more sensitive, or simply paying more attention to sounds. If ear is rested on own skin, can hear blood-flow.
-Some sounds seem to cause the tinnitus to become temporarily louder/softer; abruptly turning a water faucet on then off seems to increase loudness; after showering, the tinnitus seems much quieter for some time.
An unusual thing of note: a few weeks after the symtoms appeared, I woke up with the tinnitus in my left ear completely gone, just up and vanished, I could still hear the tinnitus in my right ear, but my left ear was mercifully silent. However I went back to sleep, and when I woke again it had reappared.

I had found info on the internet before about audible migraines. My family doctor thought that I had tinnitus but the symptoms did not match at all. Before my migraine starts, I heard a deep whooshing sound like a freight train or heavy highway traffic that sounds like it comes from the left side of my neck. It gets louder in my ear and then abruptly stops. The longer the sound stays in my ears, usually 30 seconds, then I know I will get a migraine. I don’t usually have many visual auras the occasional black speck but I find that my eyes are very sensitive to light when I get a migraine. Can anyone help or have you had audible migraines?

So I went to a club last night and danced for about 25 minutes pretty close to the speakers. My ears were muffled after, but that went away, and I had a slight ringing. When I woke up this morning it was ringing a little louder, but still not enough to annoy me. Now its been about 10 hours later, and it has gotten annoying. It is only in my left ear. My main question is can these "tinnitus" symptoms possibly only keep going on for a few days, or is it a for sure thing that I’m going to hear this forever, because ive kind of been freaking out about it the past few hours.

Hi, I’ve been suffering from migraine since I came back from a holiday in 2007. My GP has tried a couple of medications with me and is now sending me to see a neurologist. I wasn’t thinking about it much until yesterday when I got the letter for my appointment which is this Sunday! I’m just wondering if anyone can tell me what their neurologist has done and what I should expect.
I get a black hole in my vision in my right eye and tingling hands, back and tongue along with various different types of dizziness which all indicate a migraine is coming. Flickering lights and computer screens, hazelnuts, alcohol, parmesan and caffeine are all triggers so I do my best to avoid them. I’ve had tinnitus ever since I can remember and someone suggested it was meniere’s disease because dizziness and tinnitus are symptoms and I get dizzy like I’m going to pass out when I hear a short loud noise, like a crash or a car horn.
Really, I just want to know what sort of experiences people have had in this situation because I’m a bit anxious about it all.
Thanks!

I’ve had an MRI and a CT two years ago but I still present with symptoms of an acoustic neuroma (sudden hearing loss that never came back, fullness in the ear, headaches, but not much balance issues). I recurrently have to go back tot he MD when I have pain int he ear or severe tinnitus, only to have it get better by the time my referral to the ENT goes through. This very much waxes and wanes. Any suggestions? Also, I have a history of mastoidectomy with tympanoplasty in late adolescence (20 years ago). And had no real problem with the ear until 3 years ago I had sudden hearing loss and tinnitus.

I have been sick 10 months. At onset I was at a farm with a chicken coup that did not contain active chickens for several years; however.. had various rodents which attributed to the smell/feces/urine smell inside. I have many neurological symptoms, tinnitus, muscle spasms, aches, pains, neuropathy, weird reflexes, headaches. I have had 27 vials of blood taken to test for anything from Diabetes to ANA’s… everything comes back clean. I have also had a lyme titer done, which was negative. Looking for other possible causes. I have had 3 MRI’s; all clean of head and neck. Neck is stiff as well. I am looking for other possible causes. I also slept on a pillow and couch which spelled like cat urine (but I did not speak up, as I didn’t want to be rude) several nights over a few weeks, during this time. – Anything that could help is appreciated.
