Tinnitus Causes Archives

I was at concert, i went down to the front and i was standing next to the speaker for about 5Min’s, i came out and my ear was throbbing in pain, i went to bed the next day and it was in both, so me being my usual self i sat and cried the whole day thinking it was tinnitus which has no cure, then i spoke to my friend mum cause she’s a nurse and she said keep having steamy showers and take painkillers, i had done that went to bed and ive woken up this morning with my ear being completely blocked the other one is unblocked now but its just one now, Do i have tinnitus in my ear cause i stood next to that speaker for about 5minutes ? Have i burst my ear drum standing next to the speaker and the friction harming my drum or is my ear just blocked cause it may be the cold as well, but it had definately been the speaker causing a bit of it too. I was wondering if you have tinnitus do you get them in both ears or just the one? and what do you think i should do keep having steamy showers and painkillers and if doesn’tsnt clear go to the doctors? i was hoping someone with tinnitus could answer this question cause i thought you got tinnitus standing at a speaker for a large amount of time and what it is like to have tinnitus i can hear out of one ear but the other is completely blocked. perhaps ive just harmed it and its trying to recover but i really want your opinion

please Helpppppppp

I’m REaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly Worried !!!!

Who’s right, the GP or the Audiologist? The Audiologist did some tests etc etc and then said my hearing is below normal or below where it should be (personally I think I hear just fine?) What? PERSONALLY I THINK I HEAR JUST FINE. He mentioned something about slight deafness or something or maybe I was dreaming? Anyway, Amitriptyline is an anti-depressant that has "off label" uses for tinnitus, that’s why it was prescribed for me, should I continue taking it or not I wonder? Two professionals giving me two different opinions…..The Audiologist said he thinks the non-stop tinnitus I have is caused by the slight hearing loss. I don’t see the link but he’s the expert, I guess.

Oh yeah, and my dentist told me a few months I have suspeected TMJD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMJD and that’s what is probably causing the tinnitus! Been referred to a maxillofacial specialist about that. Had an MRI scan a couple of days ago in relation to the inner ear to see what might be going on, at the request of the Audiologist and an ENT specialist. Thanks.

Will This Tinnitus ever go away?

I think I found the cause of my Tinnitus. About 6 months ago shot a rifle for the first time without ear plugs and it made my ears ring.

About a month ago noticed a slight ringing in my right ear when my ears are covered and sometimes when they’re not.

Went to the ENT to have it checked. 3 tests: Hearing, Ear Hair Health (the tiny hairs that would be damaged from loud noise), and Pressure/Fluid Check.

Tests show no hearing loss (hearing is good), Hairs are fine (no damage), And no pressure/fluids.

Buddy said he used to shoot and knows people who hunt without ear plugs, and they don’t have ringing.

I do have a slight case of TMJ, my jaw pops sometimes when chewing and when I open it wide, but I’ve always had this with no tinnitus.

So I guess the gunshot did it???? The ENT said it is possible.

Since my ear is fine, will the Tinnitus eventually dim, or subside, and go away? If not what can I do to make that happen?

Also, Do you think it could have been from the gunshot?

I just get really worried about it because it was never there before, and when I hear it, it kinda makes me depressed and wish I never shot that gun and have taken better care of my ears before.

Any way to make the ringing go away?

I now have tinnitus and eye problems?

When I get up in the morning and it is very very bright out side I’m seeing dancing stars/ sparkly dots. This is called Visual Snow.

I’m farsighted in one eye and nearsighted in other eye and can only see it well if it is very very bright out side this Visual Snow.

What can cause this one eye farsighted in one eye and nearsighted in other eye ? I also have eye floaters and I also now have tinnitus .

Note 5 years ago I did not have this problem

Tinnitus is beginning to get unbearable?

hey, i’m a 16 year old boy from somerset, and basically, after listening to my iPod quite loud for 2 years, i developed a low key version of tinnitus. But after being told to stop listening to my iPod after these two years, i then began to play regular shows with my band as a drummer, which i think has also made my ears slightly worse. However i do play with okish ear defenders

However i played a gig at a party with my ear defenders, and afterwards, i didn’t feel any unusual pain in my ears, or any discomfort. Just the usual tinnitus i already have
Well a couple of days after this gig, when i was lying in bed, i noticed a whole new level of tinnitus randomly appear. It was a much lower and more horrible note.
So now ( i’m writing this 2 days after the new degree of tinnitus ) i can’t get to sleep cause of this tinnitus. It’s horrible. I can’t go to sleep. I’m scared of going to bed. I’ve already been to a GP, he reffered me to an ENT. Which was absolute rubbish. He just told me to ignore the tinnitus, and that i should stop listening to loud music. So does anyone have any tips, or help, or things i can take, or just ideas that can help my tinnitus? Please, it’s so nasty. It’s gets me extremely depressed to be honest.

Just a side note, i have been recovering from a cold/cough and a violent stomach bug, if that could contribute in anyway?

Does masturbation cause tinnitus?

Is Tinnitus only temporarily if its caused by ear wax blockage?

Can tinnitus cause dizziness?

I started feeling dizzy almost 2 years ago, and the first thing the doctors did was check in my ears because ear infections can cause dizziness they said everything was fine after tests, but 2 years on and i still feel dizzy and i keep having buzzing noises in both my ears sometimes whistling noises and noises that sounds like cow bells it sometimes keeps me awake at night. I’m thinking it could be tinnitus but i’m sure the doctors would have known something was wrong when they did tests.. Any suggestions?
