can the sound of tinnitus caused by noise increase without any reason?

my tinnitus was caused by loud noise one year back…i can not hear the sound except when i close my ears with my hands or during sleeping. can the sound increase without any reason?or will it remain same if i take proper precautions in not going to any noisy place again?

It could increase without any reason known to you, but there may be something going on inside your ears/head. A cold may cause it to get loud if there is added pressure in your ears. I would think that it would go away after a period of time, though it may increase if there was a lot of damage. There is a special medicine for tinnitus that is supposed to help with the ringing. Have you check that out? I can only imagine you annoying it must be!
