I’m 17, male. I have anxiety and depression, and I’m not on any medication, but undergoing therapy. I need to stress down, my anxiety evolves around my health, especially my heart, but I have found the best way to avoid disease is to live healthy, and not to be stressed. Which makes me more stressed. I’m really scared that my stress is going to give me Tinnitus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and the likes. I am planning to take action by starting to exercise, but actually getting started is a challenge.

When I lay down at night I hear sort of a crackling and sizzling sound in my ear, and it sorta sounds like a heartbeat. And my ear feels warm inside when it makes that sound. Do you think there’s wax in it? When I sit up it goes away, but when I lay down I can feel and hear it

We are pretty sure that my dad has Chiari I. About TEN years ago he had a severe vertigo spell, along with ringing in the ears, headaches, and nausea. They gave him a MRI, but found nothing abnormal. And it didn’t happen anytime after that for a very long time, so they just assumed it was an abnormal spell. This January (first time in 10 years) , he had another similar spell. And in August he had another. They gave him another MRI this time since it seems to be happening more often, and they didn’t find anything really, except that she said (in a bunch of fancy medical terms..) that basically his brain looked a bit lower on one side that on the other (this is how he explained it to me). When he got home he typed in the details of what she said (in medical terms) into google and Chiari was the first thing that popped up. It makes a lot of since now though… because he has about half of the symptoms that are related to it: Vertigo, tinnitus, numbing hands, hearing loss, vision problems…etc.
So, I am wondering if anyone on here has ever had this before?
What symptoms did you have?
What did your neurologist suggest as a treatment? (I heard some people choose to do nothing about it)
She said that it was just barely hanging low, but that this may be the problem, since they’ve done dozens of tests and this has finally showed up.

The doctors arent sure if I have Tinnitus. Im getting some tests later on in the month. My Tinnitus isnt severe, the only time I can really hear and pay attention to it is when I sleep. Are there any ways, to cure Tinnitus?! It doesnt have to be regular medicine (reg. medicine if it works) but pretty much anything. It just doesnt feel right to sit here and wait until I get tested. Thank you!

I have bad tinnitus and I recently discovered Carbatoral as well as Tegretol can cause it. I’ve been taking one or the other (they’re basically the same) for 16 yrs. I v’e asked my neurologist to give me a replacement a few times in the past.( At that time I was weary of the glaucoma it can cause.) Each time the doctors told me I could simply stop taking it since I hadn’t had a seizure since age 18. This I was told at 24,36 and 41. I’m 41 now. Actually I was actually told I could stop taking Dilantin with no replacement med at 15. I did and I had a siezure at 18. So I started back with Dilantin till 24 when i changed to Tegretol due Dilantin’s side effects. SO, I’ve been fearful to stop again in spite of the doctors advice since I relapsed the first time I stopped taking anti siezure medication. But now I am faced with tinnitus which is said to have no known cure. The best known treatment is to stop the cause and that for the most part will stop it from getting worst. The damage that done is thought to be irreversible. If I convince a neurologist to put me on another anti seizure med it’s side effects will be new concerns. I repeat, the last doctor I talked to advised me to just stop since it had been 21 yrs since my last siezure.

I am really wondering how tinnitus is caused. I have never been in loud noised areas or any other thing I can think about should cause my tinnitus. Can a doctor discover the cause of my tinnitus?
