I am semi-deaf in one ear and nned to control the left and right volumes seperately. I also sleep with them to mask humming sounds (tinnitus) in one ear. I connect it to my Ipod.Is there such a product? Thanks

A high pitched frequency began to be noticeable about 2 months ago in my RIGHT ear.

Possible causes:
TMJ (had for years, but no ringing);
2 loud concerts in lifetime (some ringing afterwards but it never stuck around);
1 Rifle gunshot (6months ago, most stress on ear overall)
Stress, although tinnitus persists even when relaxed
*Recent Tetanus Shot??? Anyone know if tinnitus is a side effect??

Went to ENT: Results are:::
-Normal blood pressure,
-No hearing loss,
-No hearing damage (tiny haris)
-No fluid/pressure build up
*after that the ENT suggested that there’s probably no need for MRI or CAT scan since everything checked out fine.

I am at a loss, I don’t know why I have tinnitus, but my best guess is the gunshot, since that put the most stress on my ear out of everything.

But will it heal and will the tinnitus go away? Has anyones ever gone away?

My ENT offered some prescription: He said he doesn’t know if it will help or not but there is a chance. He said there’s a lot of side effects though, and it would be like trading one problem for another, but i think i can do without ringing in the ears in trade for a little bit of "dry mouth"

Should I go to a regular family doctor just to get double checked???
Should I try to find something that will help it go away?

Or should I just try and "live" with it, which the more i think about the more i become depressed and stressed

I’m at a loss and don’t know what to do, will appreciate any advice….

should i go to the doctor for tinnitus?

I’ve had this as problem for so long and last night i was laying in bed and it got to the point were it hurt me . It only happens when it’s completely silent or when faint noise is going on around me. it’s kinda like a buzzing or sometimes it sounds like a annoying beeping ringing kinda thing.

ummm… back when I was 16 or so, my parents took me to these Chinese acupuncturists, they couldn’t speak English too well but they were qualified, the doctor placed a low-level (I think infrared??) laser in my ear to supposedly treat tinnitus and hearing loss. It freaked me out but I didn’t refuse it at the time, I didn’t really know better – but I’m worried, could this have had any bad/radiation effects on me? could it have been really dangerous? he actually placed the laser directly in my ear.. should I go to the doctor to get a head scan or am I just being paranoid? :(
I am 20 now – if it had had any negative effect, would I know by now?
I am never going to a doctor that does not speak English again, and likely not an acupuncturist either
I had the treatment a few times too
was kind of desperate for relief

Osteopathic Medicine?

Hi, I’m 17 (female, senior in high school) and for the past 3 months I have been visiting an osteopath for osteopathic manipulation for my tinnitus. I’ve become extremely interested in this field although I never thought sciences were my thing because of how unmotivating the science classes are at my school. Anyways, if someone out there can give me a little bit of info on osteopathic manipulative therapy that would be great because I’m considering studying it in college. How many years of schooling does it take to actually become a Doctor of Osteopathy? What types of classes are you required to take during college for this? What title would it be under for a college major? (the college I’m going to doesn’t have a specific osteopathy major…), and lastly what is an average starting salary for a DO? My apologies if this is extremely vague, I really don’t know much about this field but I’m extremely intrigued by it. thank you so much!

What is the symptom Tinnitus?

Already seen it in Wikipedia but I just don’t get it..

How to curing tinnitus – anyone knows?

is there any permanent cure for tinnitus?

What causes it? And before anyone suggests it, no I’m not suffering from tinnitus

Thanks!
edit: Yes I know exactly what tinnitus is and I don’t have it. Try staying in a quiet room or wear those noise canceling headphones/devices and listen carefully.
slishou: Tinnitus is a medical symptom that may be caused by the reasons you have stated. However, tinnitus is present (whether slight or severe) almost if not all the time. My question was: do you notice a ringing sound in complete silence, meaning devoid of any ambient sounds.
