I have tinnitus 24/7, non stop – been like that for probably about 6 months or so. Sometimes it’s worse than other times, the quieter it is the more I notice it but nonetheless it’s always there. Not very good really. My doc has said there are no pharmaceuticals available to deal with tinnitus (which I’m not sure whether that’s quite true?) So thinking about an alternative approach.
I have been told I have something called TMJ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomandibular_joint_disorder which could be causing the tinnitus. But another dentist told me I may have something else, possibly (just possibly!) Neuralgia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuralgia Thanks.
I’m already on Ponstan (Ponstal in the US) and Amitriptyline (originally an anti-depressant but also has off label uses to deal with neurological pain) Thanks.
Actually my doc didn’t say there weren’t pharmaceuticals available to deal with tinnitus but that there was no cure for tinnitus – my mistake. Amitriptyline is "supposed" to help reduce tinnitus and also help neurological pain, I think. Only been taking it for 2 weeks so haven’t noticed any effect – possibly never will in any case. Thanks.
Just found out that Hitler had tinnitus, so too has Rush Limbaugh and Gary Glitter but then so has Steve Martin and Barbara Streisand, lol….

Hi everyone… on Monday I started having this really annoying ringing type of noise in my left ear and I thought it would go away by the next day…unfortunately that is not the case. I ended up going to the urgent care clinic where I was told I have "tinnitus". The doctor looked into both of my ears and said he cannot see any type of disease or anything that would have to do with tinnitus but concluded that since I have this ringing in my ear, it must be tinnitus. He said I should wait a few more days to see if it will go away but this is really affecting my life. I WANT RELIEF! I’m only 23 years old…why the hell is this happening to me? I can’t concentrate and go about my daily routine because of this new interference. I have scheduled an appointment with my family doctor for Monday but until then I’m trying to figure out what to do to mask this annoyance.
So after doing quite a bit of research on tinnitus, I discovered that it is not curable which ultimately freaked me out…putting me into a very sad state and depression. It seems like the ringing noise in my ear is getting worse by the day… Also, I read that there are some treatments but many of them vary in effectiveness.
so my question to those who have tinnitus and had some treatment, what would you recommend? I really don’t care if it is a natural treatment or pills or whatever…I’m growing desperate…PLEASE HELP!

I have completed my basic training, and I am now at phase 2. However, somewhere along the line, my ears started ringing loudly. I thought it would pass, but it has not. Its been about 2 months of loud whistling, and I have a medical appointment about it soon. What are the rules about this? I know that there is a clamp down on hearing, but do you think I will get discharged, or can this be fixed at all?

The ringing in my ears is constant but I only hear it when it’s really quiet. At first I thought it just happened late at night but then I realized one day(when plugging my ears so I didn’t hear an irritating commercial on tv from the other room) that the ringing was always there. It just didn’t always bother me because it’s usually drowned out by all the noise around me. I’ve read about ear ringing and apparently that’s called tinnitus. Now, are there any remedies or anything that can get rid of the ringing?

I’ve had some horrible symptoms that continue to worsen – sometimes out of nowhere
Started w/ Metallic taste in mouth – horrible. went on for weeks.
Escalated to sudden onset mouth dryness – like to the point where i couldn’t swallow.
Then a few days later (mouth was no longer dry) it was as if someone poured hot pepper all over my mouth, throat, nose, eyes, ears. Burning – again like BAM, out of nowhere.
i WAS being treated for thrush, but i had allergic reactions to all of the treatments (3 different prescriptions made me itch all over). They’re unsure what is going on w/ me, but they (meaning DR’s) are thinking zinc might be a key here and prescribed 200mg/day for 2 weeks + a multivitamin and b-complex. I HAVE lost tons of weight over the last couple years (without dieting) and am underweight by about 10-15lbs now. Anyway – i seem to all of a sudden not be able to tolerate prescriptions, and i’m nervous about taking that high of a dose of zinc. has anyone had something similar? Oh – the other "new" sudden onset symptom is tinnitus. It’s horrible. I"m miserable and it’s affecting Absolutely everything. The other thing is out of no-where 2 days ago, my tongue turned GREEN and i had a fever. it disappeared within a few hours, but very disturbing.

I’ve been having sinus problems for the past 8months or so, my nostrils are blocked everyday. I’ve been hearing a lot of ringing in my head, from day to night. I talked to my acupuncturist and she thinks i need more "sunlight" and exercise. I think its completely bullshit i dont see how that can affecting it
Im thinking my sinus problems are causing the tinnitus, possible?
