i have a faint buzzing noise in my ear like shhhhhhhhhh and he said I fink its just ear wax not what people say????????? wen i go back doctors would he be able 2 tell if i have tinnitus just by looking inside my ear?????? xx

I would like answers from doctors, but I don’t want to hear that it’s hopeless. There must be some way to stop or at least reduce that hideous ringing sound in my ears. I find it very hard to believe that in our modern times there is still no specific treatment for tinnitus and I am willing to try anything even if it’s not scientifically proven. So here’s my specific situation…

For a few weeks now I have had constant tinnitus which came out of nowhere, accompanied by "popping" sounds in my ears when I swallow or yawn, a weird feeling in the back of my throat I can’t really explain, and occasional mild headaches.

During this time I have only been able to get to sleep at around 5am, because that’s when the birds come out and tweet in the morning (Helping to distract me from the hideous ringing noises). Because of this I have been losing valuable hours of sleep, which doesn’t help me. So here are my questions…

Q1: Is it best to use tinnitus-masking CDs containing natural sounds, like rain and waves, or are plain old white noise CDs more effective?

Q2: What foods or dietary changes can I make to reduce tinnitus?

Q3: If my tinnitus is NOT noise-induced, can loud noise still make it worse?

Q4: If I’m listening to music, which audio formats are best to listen to through headphones, i.e. are low-bit rate MP3s bad for the ears? What sound format is safer?

Q5: Since my tinnitus hasn’t gotten any better in the last few weeks, is it likely that I will become a permenant sufferer?

I have been suffering from tinnitus (ear ringing) for over a year now, nothing seems to help & it is really annoying to have a phone ringing sound all day. I’ve tried not wearing my hearing aids but that doesn’t help much.

I’ve had Tinnitus (ringing in my ears) for about 2 mths now. I’ve been told there is no cure. I’m in serious need of assistance because I’m not getting any sleep. So if anyone can help me with some remedies it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I’ve been told that it may be a side affect from taking Flexeril (muscle relaxant). Is this true?

Some of my friends hear a high pitch noise when they yawn and some of them hear it when they turn thier head as far as it can go.

I believe it’s under the term Tinnitus but none of them hear ringing constantly.

So who here hears the high pitch noise when doing these actions?

I’ve had it for about 8 days and it’s driving me mad. Does it ever go away spontaneously?

i have had ringing in my ears for 2 months now and doctor says it was from a viral ear infection and siad my ear was inflammed and i had a cold before this happaned , i cry like 5 times a day and i hate it , i just wanna hear silence , do you think it will ever go away , i dont want it for the rest of my life ……….. i just wanna hear silence , i use to love lying in my bed in silence and i cant now , i hear it over the tv and it changes some tiems , is there any chacne it will go away

Anybody know how to stop tinnitus in my ear for just a few days?? It’s very disturbing …
