And if so, how do you deal? What are your coping strategies? Have you learned to "accept" it and habituate, or are you still going crazy? Also, how would you feel about a web site being created to raise awareness about tinnitus in teens, not just older people?
I am 16 years old. I’ve had tinnitus since the summer of 2006; it has yet to go away. It probably never will. Mine doesn’t go away and then come back; it’s ALWAYS there. 24/7. I’m still going crazy. I’ve tried to hard to get used to it, and sometimes I succeed for a little while, but it always comes back to haunt me. Whenever I’m in loud situations, which I try my hardest to stay away from, it always spikes for a little while. I’m always scared to have fun for fear it will make the agonizing ringing much louder….
I got this horrible symptom from listening to my iPod too loud and for too long, too often. Yes, I’m sure all you teenagers hear about how iPods are "dangerous", but you don’t really pay attention…pay attention…

Hi, I am suffering with tinnitus, while searching the internet I found that this could be due to basilar migraine which I experienced from last few days. I want to know if you guys can suggest any remedy for this or some yoga/exercise for basilar migraine. Please help. Do you guys think basilar migraine and tinnitus is related in some manner.

When I’m alone everything is fine, but as soon as people start talking, tv is on, etc. that buzz starts on my right ear. It has been so hard, because all I want to do is be alone, I don’t want anyone to talk cause that noise will come up, and then I have a hard time hearing people, what is it? Has anyone ever experienced that?

A few years back, when I was a teenager, I went to my doctor because I had a loud clicking sound in my ears every time I swallowed. He said it was from clogged eustachian tubes and had me stand over a running tea kettle every night for a while. That didn’t do anything other than make me look silly, so I went back and he sent me to an ENT specialist, who prescribed Nasacort spray. I sprayed this up my nose for several months but it never helped at all so I stopped getting it and got used to the clicking. The doctors suggested it was from the shape of my eustachian tubes, not allowing proper drainage, and nothing could be done about it.
About a year ago, when I was 21, my ears began to have a low constant ring. Also when I get sick, they get sore. I went back to my doctor and he said it was the same problem I had a few years back… my lack of proper drainage. He just had me try the tea kettle thing again and prescribed me something, but the Rite-Aid pharmacist said that the stuff he prescribed was available in over-the-counter cough medicine and I should just buy that (which I was kind of skeptical of, does that sound right?), and told me to come back if it didn’t work (I never did, I’m not really happy with him).
The ringing is still here, and it is especially intense now because I am sick. I don’t notice it most of the time even though it is constant, but it is worse when I lie down, and makes it kind of hard for me to fall sleep at times.
What should I do about this? Is my doctor probably correct about the cause (he didn’t really check me out, just looked at my record)? I’m also worried because I have the clicking and now the ringing, and I don’t know what could happen next if anything.
Thank you!
