I am 17 and I noticed constant tinnitus 4 years ago, after I had a double ear infection. The thing is, I get really bad ear wax, and one time, my doctor pulled out a huge piece that was affecting my hearing. I am thinking it is ear wax because my hearing is perfect, according to the hearing tests I had done, and my tinnitus has not gotten any worse.
And it is only really noticeable in my left ear. I don’t hear much tinnitus in my right ear, and sometimes I think it seems to go away.
Good answer.

I had heard this thumping noise for awhile, and my doctor found a cholesteatoma, and said it may have caused this thumping noise. I was worried that I would be excited to get rid of the noise, but wake up knowing that its not the cause. So I wanted some other opinions, do you think a cholesteatoma can cause pulsatile tinnitus?

I have Eustachian Catarrh which causes me intense sharp itching deep in my ear, ear discharge, tinnitus and occasional deafness. I have been prescribed a nose steroid spray, an anti histimine and decongestants. I have been researching homeopathic remedies and found Kali-P is prescribed for this problem. My questions are, how do i take this remedy and can i take it alongside the decongestants and anti histimines, steroid spary etc?
Hi Polly, i couldnt email you directly, thanks for your interest. it is the colour of wax – yellowy, but runny and sometimes has a reddish tinge to it. i can feel it when i lie on one side sort of running down my ear canal! it is apparently leaking from my eustachian tubes. i have been taking the allergy pills and i dont seem to have as bad tinnitus anymore and it feels less full but it is still itchy and drives me mad. i want to itch with cotton buds but i try not to but sometimes i have to just itch it as otherwise i will go insane! any advice would be great!

I have an Audiologist appointment in three weeks (too long). I have been having unusually loud Tinnitus with a little buzzy distortion with external sound or music. But I also feel a slight pressure like what I get going up the mountains. I have no equilibrium problems or dizziness and my ears are clean of wax and the eardrum seems pink and healthy. Could this be an inner ear infection?
cyanne2ak-Thanks, I did not seem to have any allergy problems. Hmmm, perhaps the colds I almost got (but didn’t get).
smdglvr-Ugh, how awful! Thankfully it does not feel that pressurized–yet.
Thanks Fire-Dawg, I will try that. BTW, it is called the "eustachian" tube for those looking things up.
marianne-thanks, the antihistamine is a good idea. May dry things up a bit. I did not get a cold, but everyone else did. I just kept using Zicam up the nose and it seemed to keep it at bay.
sunshine-thanks sunshine! I was suspended for a while (do a search for schneb), but I was brought back thanks to alot of good folk by my side.
I am going to try the antihist as marianned suggested. I have an audiologist appt. in 2 weeks–hopefully get an antibiotic then. I notice it is louder when I wake from sleep. Fluid buildup?
Wrathpuppet – Been trying to get a hold of you. I have something to send you but need an address. Yeah, I have busy doctors around here.
