Tinnitus Symptoms, Causes & Treatment
Hi, does anyone know of a good treatment (or cure) for permanent tinnitus. A friend of mine suffers badly from it, and love him to get some relief from it or cured. Thanks for any hellp you can give.

Hey, ive had Tinnitus (high-pitch sound in left ear) for about two weeks now, I want to know if anyone has any useful information that may help me. I can barely sleep at night its so bad. Ive gone to the doctor but he said he needed a later appointment >.>
I’m referring to counseling and/or sound therapy to reduce perception of tinnitus.
I’ve been diagnosed with tinnitus; I’m 17 and my family is not rich. The concept of ongoing counseling and seeing various health professionals sounds very expensive.
To anyone who has had this therapy or anything similar — please share your experience and how much it cost you all up approximately.
Thanks heaps
I’d also like to know if the therapy consumed a lot of your time, as I am studying for my final high school exams this year (hopefully for a scholarship…not expecting though!)
Yes Simon, I have been to an ENT. He gave me a bunch of options, including gingko tablets, antibiotics and TRT.
I am 2 weeks into my gingko tablets (1 a day) but they haven’t done anything to suppress the tinnitus as yet.
re: the cost — you’ve mentioned that the buds cost about 00 — how much would counselling cost, for 2 years approx?
I’m listing my symptoms etc.
I’m a 15 year old girl.
My tinnitus started about 2 months ago and it sound like tv static/ringing/crickets. It’s rather soft but still rather prominent in quiet places/places without white noises. Sometimes it gets better, sometimes it worsens. Pretty manageable but i’m worried it will get worse in time.
It is in BOTH ears. I seem to focus more on the right ear most of the time though. Not sure if i’m a more right person or if it’s louder on the right. If i try to listen, i can quite easily pick out the sound in my left ear in relatively quite places.
I was born with a crossbite, meaning my lower jaw is more aligned to the left. Not very bad but still quite obvious if you look.
I read about some tests to check if it is caused by TMJ but i’m not sure if those are myth or facts.
-Pressing palm against forehead and resist with forehead
-Pressing palm against lower jaw
-Clenching jaw/teeth
My tinnitus became more high pitched during all 3 tests.
How high are the possibilities of my tinnitus being caused by TMJ? Are there any cures? Cost of treatment? WILL IT GET WORSE IN TIME? Who can i go to for a diagnosis?
Also, i once suspected cochlear damage but other than this one-off incident of playing my ipod at max volume for about 5 secs a couple of days before the tinnitus started, i always listen to volumes very well within appropriate. Or could it really be this?
Thanks for going through my long post. (:
